After the success of their TV movie Camp Rock, the Jonas Brothers are now prepping for their own Disney Channel original series. "It's going to be about us as a band but dealing with normal things like trying to take out the trash and not get hounded by fans," Joe Jonas tells ELLEgirl magazine about the series, called J*O*N*A*S. "It's going to be a funny show, and it's going to be a great cast." The show – originally about the boy band living a double life as spies – has recently undergone a conceptual change. The trio, who just released their third studio album, A Little Bit Longer, told Ryan Seacrest on his KISS-FM radio show that the series will now be more like HBO's Flight of the Conchords.
J*O*N*A*SThe series will be a single camera, live-action comedy about balancing rocker life and everyday teenage stuff. The boys – redubbed the Lucas brothers, Kevin Lucas, Joe Lucas and Nick Lucas – will play in a fictitious band called J*O*N*A*S and live with their parents in a converted fire station in New Jersey. Plot lines include juggling household chores, hitting celebrity events, attending private high school and dealing with overzealous fans. Other cast members include Nicole Anderson (Hannah Montana) as Macy, their friend and fan, and John Ducey (Will and Grace) as their dad. Big Rob will play a recurring character, and their real younger brother, Frankie, will also turn up as the youngest Lucas sibling. Production is on hold until the boys finish their tour, but "we start filming mid-September," said Joe, 19. "The writers are working on it as we speak, so we should be seeing scripts any day. I'm really excited."
